08.16.2009 – Businessmen planning to visit China in the early–mid autumn period are advised that visas may be difficult to obtain for dates after September 15 due to the government’s 60th founding anniversary on October 1.
The restrictions are likely to be in force for about four to six weeks. Foreigners residing in China without work permits whose visas expire before this date may also face difficulties. China has employed strict visa control measures this year in light of several anniversaries falling during the year and perceptions of anti-Chinese sentiments still run high following the global problems with the Olympic torch run last year.
China does not want security issues leading up to the 60th anniversary. Restrictions on entry and travel to certain destinations within that date are likely to be enforced until the end of October.
In case of emergency, individuals requiring assistance in obtaining visas during this period are advised to email chinavisa@dezshira.com. Business and tourist visas are expected to return to normal beginning November 1.
