Agilewaves Gets The Nod for Net-Zero Energy Building Project

California Energy Commission Selects Agilewaves for Building Energy Efficiency Initiative

Agilewaves was among a select group of companies recently named by the California Energy Commission (CEC) for funding in the Advanced Energy Efficient Buildings grant program sponsored by the US Department of Energy (DOE).

The Agilewaves proposal for “Performance Measurement & Benchmarking for Net-Zero Energy Buildings” was evaluated by a panel of energy efficiency experts at the Energy Commission. As part of their findings, the CEC noted that the Agilewaves Building Optimization System “has the potential of reducing energy use by 30% in retrofitted and newly constructed buildings.”

Commercial buildings account for over 40% of energy use in the U.S., which is why both DOE and CEC are investing in technologies that provide the infrastructure for green buildings. The Net-Zero Energy Commercial Building Initiative is the umbrella program designed to advance the development and market adoption of net-zero energy commercial buildings (NZEBs). Numerous CEC-commissioned studies indicate that monitoring-based commissioning (MBCx) and permanent monitoring systems are essential to achieving the sustainable, high-performance buildings at the core of the Net-Zero Energy Building Initiative.

The Agilewaves monitoring and resource management system provides the real-time, rigorous metrics to identify immediate operational issues and, at the same time, supply trend data to evaluate refurbishment or re-commissioning projects. The system can also track the effectiveness of renewable energy projects.

Cary Vandenberg, CEO of Agilewaves noted: “Improving building energy efficiency via persistent monitoring is our forte, and we’re pleased to have CEC’s vote of confidence. We provide real-time, actionable insight into building operations. Whether it’s a Net-Zero Energy Building initiative, a LEED project, or simply an energy efficiency program to cut costs – Agilewaves provides the foundation for high-performance green buildings.”
