The company also announced that it has released its API to allow any publisher with local content to publish their own special-interest ‘channels’ on Aloqa. The API can be found at http://dev.aloqa.com. “Now, instead of publishers having to build multiple applications for iPhone, Blackberry and Android, and then testing each application on multiple handsets and in multiple countries, they can build their own free channel within our location-aware application – using our toolkit and API – and be up and running immediately,“ explained Florian Fuchs, VP of Engineering of Aloqa.
Aloqa Users can also use Aloqa Buzz to invite their Facebook friends to share their location with them and be alerted when they come into proximity with each other. The application is available for free at the iPhone App Store, and is also available on all Android handsets via the Android Market and on select Blackberry models.
