6 Teams, 2 Venues, Playoffs the Prize!

The Arizona Football League will play the last remaining games of a weather extended season. This weekend six teams will play in two venues to determine the final playoff seeding for the 16 year old AzFL.

First up will be the one game in Prescott Valley. It is the home of the Yavapai Bandits and the location for a Memorial game for one of their young players that died earlier this year. Anthony Guzman will have his jersey framed and given to his family by Bandits owners Kurt and Robbie Dembaugh.

After the ceremony the Bandits will play the Flagstaff Hitmen at 4:00 PM at Bradshaw Mountain High School. Many Hitmen players were also good friends with Anthony, a Prescott High School class of '07 graduate.

This game is a must win for the Northern Arizona team, it will greatly impact their playoff standings. It will be in the 60's and should be a beautiful day in the high country.

The remaining games will be in Apache Junction at 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM. Four teams are involved and both games are critical for them. It is possible that losing teams can be eliminated from the post season play.

First up at Apache Junction High School and Prospector Stadium will be the Casa Grande Wolfpack vs the Paradise Valley Crusaders. PV has a husband and wife coach and owner team of Byron and Lyn Autry. In only their second season they have the Crusaders in position as contenders. Byron and Lyn are both playing veterans of the AzFL, he was a running back and she played wide receiver and defensive back. They were married on the field at an AzFL game.

The Wolfpack under Head Coach Chris Braybrooks were able to earn a spot in the 2009 State Championship game. The Wolfpack were the youngest team in AzFL history to get that far. They did finish as State Runnersup, a big accomplishment.

At 6pm the West Valley (Avondale/Surprise) Head Hunters will host the Cochise County (Sierra Vista) Cavaliers. The Head Hunters won both their division and conference championships this season and would like to go into the playoffs with a win.

The Cavaliers have been traveling a lot of miles every season from deep in Southeastern Arizona. This could be one of their most talented teams yet. We expect big things from the team that Head Coach Eric Quimby has put on the field. The Cavs and Hitmen always play each other tough so don't be surprised if SV puts the sword to the dark side.
