Directed by Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci, the video begins with the following text introduction:
“It was not necessary to camouflage the insanity of the world today within a science fiction setting. The world today has become the world that writers predicted long ago. The controlling authorities are constantly, and successfully, utilizing the fear tactic to control the masses, through misinformation and distraction. Fear is bondage. Fear is slavery. Fear is Hell. Fear is control.”
McFarland says this about the video: "What excites us about this song is the building and releasing of energy. We are planning to present a visual overload of images that will keep the viewer glued to the screen. The hope is to dissect the word 'fear' and to make a piece of art that will not only capture the power of the song and but the true intensity of Fear Factory."
Intense they are, and Fear Factory fans are, as McFarland predicted, truly engaged with the video, according to Roxwel’s Multivariate Audience Meter, which measures user interactions. Not only has “Fear Campaign” been viewed tens of thousands of times in a matter of 36 hours, but viewers have also been interacting by rating, forwarding to friends, and embedding the video.
