Leading Online Blinds Retailer Launches Color Visualizer

Blinds.com, the leading online retailer of custom window blinds and shades, now gives customers the ability to virtually customize their windows before they buy.

In the last ten years, advances in e-commerce have moved many traditional customers to the web. Many of these new customers are people looking for great deals; however, not everyone feels confident shopping online. Buying custom made-to-order home and lifestyle products online, in particular, poses a challenge to consumers because it is hard to imagine what the item will look like in the right color and options.

To boost consumer confidence, Blinds.com, the world’s online leader of window treatments, launched the Blinds.com Color Visualizer. Customers now have the ability to see what their blinds or draperies will look like before they make a purchase.

“This summer, we surveyed our existing customers, asking them which new features would be the most helpful when making a blinds purchase.. The overwhelming majority suggested a color visualizer would be the top improvement we could make. That made this a no-brainer.”

The Visualizer appears on the right navigation bar while shoppers are customizing their purchases (click here to try it out on our most popular drapery). It enables shoppers to see true-to-life hues and patterns as they will appear on the blind, shade or drapery they are considering. They can zoom in on the product they create and see it up close. This is especially helpful when considering fabric draperies, valances, and roman shades that have patterned fabrics.

Based on free-form responses, there were two reasons why customers chose this as most important. First, customers said the Color Visualizer would assure them that their expectations would be met and alleviate their apprehensions. Second, most people are visual shoppers, and the Visualizer appealed to people’s natural urge to see before they buy.

“We’re constantly working on making the online experience even better than an in-store experience. You can get free samples in the mail, free online tutorial videos, and live help from experts over the phone,” said Cotlar. “Ideally, a retailer’s experience should combine the best features of the online and the brick-and-mortar marketplaces. With the addition of the Visualiser, we’re one step closer.”
