Blinds.com experts urge parents to inspect all window blinds in their homes to ensure that there are no dangling cord loops or exposed loose strings. Though no Blinds.com products were included in the recall, Blinds.com still urges customers to consider safety with regards to window coverings. Cordless blinds, shades, or shutters are the safest choices for homes with small children. Cordless products include plantation shutters, cordless roll-up shades with spring rollers, completely cordless miniblinds, cordless top town / bottom up cellular shades, and several Blinds.com cordless honeycomb shades. Because we sell custom products and not stock blinds, most Blinds.com window coverings can be customized to include child-safe options. Please note that throughout this December, the cordless option on Blinds.com brand honeycomb shades is available as a free upgrade.
Blinds.com’s corded products also come with safety features such as break-away tassels. Make sure that the blinds and shades you already have hanging in your home are compliant with The Council for Window Safety guidelines. If your blinds have cords and fit the characteristics of those announced in the recent recall, please retrofit them by taking one of the following actions: Remove looped pull cords, install cord stops or safety break-away tassels, or make sure your cords are tied-down to the wall. If you are unsure of whether your blinds are safe, please call Blinds.com and ask to speak to a Safety Expert. He or she will help you take the appropriate steps to create a safer home. Or, to order a free retrofit kit for older blinds, please visit the Council for Window Safety.
