Twenty-five cents from the purchase of every Islander smoothie sold at all 17 boloco locations will be donated to the Island Pass Program, an initiative from the Boston Harbor Island Alliance. This initiative brought over 14,000 individuals from community centers, summer camps and nonprofits to the Georges and Spectacle Islands last year. This year, they’re aiming for 15,000 people, to enjoy things like exploring the dark tunnels of Fort Warren and climbing the lighthouse at Little Brewster Island, in addition to fishing, kayaking, and even free kids concerts. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? When boloco saw there was an opportunity to support, they got excited. Besides, they were looking for an excuse to create a new smoothie.
Boloco will sell the limited-time only Islander throughout July. The smoothie is made from a newly inspired, creamy blend of non-fat vanilla yogurt, banana, mango, mango juice, and shredded coconut. Grab an Islander and support Boston Harbor Island Alliance – but do it quick, because they’re only available until August 1! Boston Harbor Island Alliance
Boston Harbor Island Alliance is a unique non-profit. We began in 1995 as a rallying cry for extending environmental protections for the Boston Harbor Islands. Consequently, in 1996, legislation that created the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area specifically named Boston Harbor Island Alliance (BHIA) the Park’s business agent, and established BHIA as a partner in entrepreneurial development and activation of this new national park. In this era of strained government funding, we play a vital role in providing an enriched visitor experience. As a non-profit, we raise funds from corporations, foundations and individuals; what makes us special is our nimble, effective execution of community programs and architectural, engineering and construction projects.
