China Travel 2.0 is designed to allow travel editors to learn about the past, present and future of China over a 14 day period between June 1st to June 14th, 2009.
The editors come from some of the top names in the online travel community and will either participate in person or lend media support such as Matador Travel, offbeat guides, Travel Muse, Trip Films and "The Indie Travel Podcast". They have a broad agenda to learn about China's history, see modern cities and to make travel connections in one of the world's largest travel markets.
The China Travel 2.0 Editor Tour 2009 will publish city by city information on their site, the participating editor sites as well as keeping readers informed by actively participating in Twitter, social networking and other related social media tools.
Twitter is a new social networking and micro-blogging tool that allows users to engage in conversation with other people worldwide using only 140 characters to send messages.
The editors are excited to get here! This will be the first time for some of them including Craig & Linda Martin. On being asked about the trip, Linda responded: "I'm so excited to be visiting China - it's been at the top of my "travel to..." list for some time. Combining travel and new media in China Travel 2.0 is too good to be true."
The organizers believe that there is a fundamental shift in the way people learn about travel destinations. This type of active inclusion of social networking communities is meant to address a type of traveler that wants to learn about the sites, sounds and experiences right from the source.
