Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (http://CIIEindia.org) at IIM, Ahmedabad cordially invites you to join us in celebrating the spirit of entrepreneurship at Hotel Royal Orchid on 2nd July, 2009. CIIE is an initiative by IIM Ahmedabad to promote innovation-driven entrepreneurship in high-technology and mass application areas. CIIE provides physical & virtual incubation, mentoring, networking and seed-funding support to aspiring entrepreneurs and handhold them through the formative stages of an enterprise. CIIE leverages the expertise of IIMA faculty and alumni and its close linkage with industry experts to add value to start-ups. Over the last few years, CIIE has run several start-up focused programs including iAccelerator (for Information and Communication Technology start-ups), Renewable Energy Search (for Clean Energy start-ups) and Piramal Prize for Healthcare (for healthcare start-ups) and has played a pivotal role in spinning off several high-tech enterprises.
To foster the spirit of entrepreneurship in India, CIIE conceptualized and published “Stay Hungry Stay Foolish” - a book on 25 IIM Ahmedabad entrepreneurs who decided to take the road less travelled. This book, authored by Rashmi Bansal (an IIMA alum), has been an instant hit and has sold about 1 lakh copies in less than 8 months of release. It has already been translated in two regional languages and is being translated in six other languages. To catalyze this entrepreneurial spirit, IIM Ahmedabad’s Alumni and CIIE have partnered to spread CIIE’s reach across the country through creation of a very active mentoring network, starting with Bangalore. The Bangalore Mentor Network, to be spearheaded by industry veterans like Chander Baljee (Founder, Royal Orchid Hotels), Shankar Maruwada (Founder, Marketics) and Srini Vudayagiri (Former MD, Lightspeed Venture Partner), shall provide active handholding, mentoring, operational and fund-raising support to budding entrepreneurs. This mentoring network would leverage the IIMA alumni’s business expertise and CIIE’s incubation experience to help aspiring entrepreneurs in the city.
On this occasion we shall release the 1,00,000th copy of “Stay Hungry Stay Foolish, launch the Kannada version of this book and announce the launch of an active start-up mentoring network in Bangalore. We invite you to join us during this unique celebration and help us create an active mentoring ecosystem in Bangalore.
