The Oklahoma Fire Sprinkler Association (OFSA) and the 263 members of the Fire Marshals of Oklahoma believe approving HB 2659, as amended, says it is acceptable to the Oklahoma Legislature to prohibit local government from acting in the best interest of citizens and violates the state's Home Rule policies. The amendment would prohibit county and local government from managing growth and controlling the cost of infrastructure development, with the benefit that homebuilders can maximize their profit margin. The benefit would come at the direct expense of Oklahomans who would face higher insurance costs and reduced federal disaster funding.
