DUBLIN, Ga. (Jan. 18, 2012) DaVita Inc. (NYSE: DVA), a leading provider of kidney care services committed to improving the quality of life for those diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD), announced that Habitat for Humanity in Dublin, Ga., was awarded a grant from the K.T. Community (KTC) Foundation.

KTC Foundation, which is funded by DaVita® CEO Kent Thiry and his wife, Denise O’Leary, provided the grant to supply tools and materials to paint the interior of a Habitat for Humanity home. For the past several years, DaVita teammates from across Georgia and South Carolina have volunteered to paint the interior of Habitat for Humanity homes as part of DaVita’s ”Village Service Day” projects.

This year, five local teammates volunteered to paint the interior of a Dublin home. As with many Habitat for Humanity builds, the local community has also embraced this project by volunteering their time and by generously assisting with building costs. Other community volunteers for this 10-week project include the Dublin Rotary Club and several local churches.

“Habitat for Humanity effectively instills the pay-it-forward mentality into every homeowner it touches,” said Ginny Clunan, program coordinator for KTC. “We are proud to be part of the ongoing process that empowers Dublin families and makes their dreams of home ownership become a reality.”

To date, Habitat for Humanity has provided more than 100,000 safe, affordable homes for families in need around the world. Home owners are chosen on the basis of need, willingness to partner and the ability to repay. They are required to put forward a specified amount of sweat equity hours toward their home and the houses of others.

KTC Foundation benefits charitable programs supported by DaVita teammates (employees) and their families. KTC donates money to non-profit organizations to fund community-based projects that leave a lasting impression on the community. Since its beginning in 2006, the KTC has given more than $220,000 in support of teammates’ charitable projects.
