Kowloon, Hong Kong…March 29, 2012…Deckers Asia Pacific Limited, a subsidiary of Deckers Outdoor Corporation, was recently granted the distinction of Caring Company by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) for its commitment to corporate responsibility. Created in 2002 by the HKCSS, the Caring Company initiative promotes good corporate citizenship by recognizing companies and organizations that meet specific criteria within the three scopes of caring: for employees, the community, and the environment.
“Receiving the distinction of Caring Company is a great honor” said Pete Worley, President of Deckers Asia Pacific. “I’m very proud of our employees, who earned this award through their volunteering efforts, care for the environment, and positive lifestyles. We strive to be a company that supports and enhances our community and the lives of those who work with us.”
To be eligible for recognition, companies must be nominated by a charitable organization, an organization receiving government subsidies, or an HKCSS Agency member. Deckers Asia Pacific received its nomination from Make a Wish® Hong Kong after supporting the regional branch of the global nonprofit through donations and volunteering. Deckers joins a roster of other major organizations that have received this distinction in Hong Kong, including HSBC, Unilever, Li & Fung, and Johnson & Johnson. The accolade allows Deckers to use the Caring Company logo, illustrating to the community its commitments to corporate responsibility.
