Comedy Theater Hires Nationally Renowned Producer and Performer for Leadership Role Heading Into 30th Anniversary
When ImprovBoston set out to find a new Managing Director early this year, they had several ideas of what that person would look like. They were looking for someone who would solidify ImprovBoston’s reputation as the place to see and learn comedy in the area, someone who could capitalize on the company’s artistic success, and someone to help elevate the company’s reputation nationally and broaden the reach of their Corporate Services.
CARRBORO, NC – Now in its fourth year, DSI Comedy Theater will once again give audiences a chance to crown the funniest person in North Carolina as it hosts Carolina’s Funniest. DSI is changing things up for the fourth year of this competition. Beginning April 14, the comic hot spot will host 36 comedians who will compete for $1500 in cash and prizes. CARRBORO, NC – This fall, Chris Gethard from the Upright Citizen Brigade Theatre in New York City ran a Kickstarter.Com campaign to take his hilarious and irreverent The Chris Gethard Show on the road. Audiences helped raise the funds and in January Gethard and his crew will pack up, hop in a van, and travel around the country. One of the top-tier donation levels was a stop on the tour and DSI Comedy Theater is pleased to have garnered one of those slots.
DSI Comedy Theater, an 84-seat non-smoking theater located in Carrboro, North Carolina, boasts a local company of 45 active performers and a national network of almost 100 professional comedians. A dedicated member of its community, the theatre continues to reach out to the greater Triangle region with fundraisers, outreach, and educational opportunities for all ages and abilities. It is the home of the DSI Comedy Training Center, which offers new classes every month in the art of improvisation, stand-up and sketch comedy.
