CARRBORO, NC – This summer, audiences at DSI Comedy Theater will be entering the Seamus Famous Bar each Friday night in Molly Buckley’s new one-woman sketch comedy show, Harvey Wallbanger. The show runs every Friday from July 2-23 at 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10. DSI Comedy Theater is located at 200 N. Greensboro St, in the Carr Mill Mall between Elmo’s and Southern Rail. Written and performed by DSI company member Molly Buckley, Harvey Wallbanger brings audiences to the Seamus Famous Bar, a bar where everybody knows your name… and your place of birth, first husband, boss’s dog’s name, and what you had for breakfast. It is your typical neighborhood bar with regulars (our cast of characters) who never expected the unexpected.
Molly Buckley plays every character, sings every song, and busts every move to create a unique night at the theater. The show is directed by John Reitz and David Greenslade and will feature special guests at each performance.
"I'm excited for DSI to present Molly Buckley's One-Woman Show Harvey Wallbanger," explains Executive Producer Zach Ward, "Not only for DSI audiences to see quality sketch comedy from an artist trained right here in Carrboro, but it's a first for the area to see a completely original comedic work both written by and starring such an incredibly strong female performer."
Buckley has been improvising since 2006, studying the art of improv and sketch comedy with Ari Voukydis, Chris Gethard, and Betsy Stover (Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre), Michael Rock and Kevin Scott (Second City, Burn Manhattan, Centralia), Asaf Ronen (YesAND.com), Jill Bernard (Drum Machine), Christine Walters (ComedySportz), Barry Hite (iO Chicago), and Zach Ward (DSI Comedy Theater). She currently works at WCHL 1360.
