LENOX, Mass. - In 1986, Andrew Cohen's life was forever changed by a spiritual awakening he had after meeting a renowned spiritual teacher. As a result of this encounter, he became a teacher himself.
Cohen, who founded EnlightenNext in 1988, will mark the 25th anniversary of the meeting with his teacher, the great Indian sage H.W.L. Poonja, on Saturday, March 26 with a day-long online celebration that will explore the transformative power of the student-teacher bond. "Awakening to Your Highest Self" will feature discussions with 25 cultural and spiritual luminaries from different traditions, all over the spiritual landscape- Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and others. Each individual will share their inspiring and intimate stories about the great men and women who inspired them, and how those relationships have helped shape their lives and work. As Cohen says, "I can't think of a better way to celebrate the power and significance of spirit in our world-and to honor the rare and inspired heroes who have helped make its presence clearer to us all." The online broadcast is a free event that will be available worldwide.
Featured guests include Jean Houston on Margaret Mead and French paleontologist and Jesuit Priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Lama Surya Das on Neem Karoli Baba, Rabbi Michael Lerner on Abraham Heschel, and many more.
The celebration continues on Sunday, March 27 with a follow-up broadcast. It will feature a discussion about
how the ongoing transformation of men and women impacts the transformation of culture, and what that cultural evolution means for each gender. The virtual seminar will later divide into two lectures, which will look at the qualities of a spiritually enlightened man and woman. Both will be led by Cohen, an internationally recognized spiritual teacher and author who will release his next book Fall, 2011.
