06.10.2009 – BOULDER , COLO. (June 10, 2009) - The Metropolitan Denver Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has hired Metzger Associates, one of the nation’s premier public relations firms renowned for its innovative use of new media applications, as its communications partner.
The 12-county campaign - which will include traditional media and sponsorship relations as well as new and social media initiatives including Twitter and Facebook - will launch immediately and will include promotion of the Oct. 4 Komen Denver Race for the Cure®, its annual Pink Tie Affair gala, and support of Denver area organizations that diagnose, treat and support people touched by breast cancer.
“Komen for the Cure has a well-established presence in the Denver community. We host the nation’s largest Race for the Cure, with more than 60,000 participants. Since 1993, we have invested more than $23 million into local programs and $9 million into breast cancer research,” said Michele Ostrander, executive director of the Denver Affiliate. “We realized that we needed to expand our approach and use social networking to reach even more people and disseminate information in a way that is current and immediate. Metzger Associates impressed us with its depth of knowledge, experience and creativity.”
