Bronze Quill, Other Top Industry Honors Awarded to MGA Communications and Clients at Rocky Mountain Arsenal
Denver-based public relations firm recognized with four top awards for social media and community involvement program for Refuge Roundup 2008
07.06.2009 – Denver, Colo.--With its clients at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, MGA Communications has earned two more awards for Refuge Roundup 2008. MGA accepted the Bronze Quill Award--an award of distinction for excellence among communication professionals--from the International Association of Business Communicators of Colorado and the Gold Peak Award from the American Marketing Association of Colorado. The communications program for the event is credited with doubling visitation over the previous year.
Refuge Roundup is an annual event held at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in Commerce City. The special event was developed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), U.S. Army, and MGA and its client, Shell Oil Co., at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. This is the second special event at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge to win multiple public relations and marketing industry awards in the past two years.
The event showcases the Refuge’s many wildlife and educational resources available to neighboring residents. To reach new audiences, MGA enhanced traditional community outreach with social media, developing a Facebook fan page, a Flickr photo site and YouTube video site to share information about the event and ongoing activities at the Refuge.
“Urban wildlife refuges give Americans an opportunity to experience nature without traveling far from home. Our partners here have assisted us in using social media so we can reach a broader section of the public and introduce them to the national wildlife refuge system,” said Visitor Services Manager Sherry James of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.
In addition to the two recent wins, earlier this spring MGA took home a Gold Pick Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Colorado Chapter and the Silver Anvil Award from PRSA. This was the third time in as many years that MGA has received the PRSA Silver Anvil, the icon of best practices in public relations.
“It is an honor to be recognized from multiple top industry associations with these awards. We are privileged to team with clients who are making important contributions to our community,” said Jeff Julin, president of MGA Communications.
