Local Film Wins World's First Nonprofit Film Festival

Local program takes $1,000 proceeds over 140 international, national and local submissions

08.10.2009 – Judges selected "Art from the Streets," a documentary directed by Layton Blaylock, as the winner from a field of 140 international entries at Lights. Camera. Help. The Nonprofit Film Festival.

All of the proceeds from the event will go to the subject of the winning film, Austin-based program, Art from the Streets. This program brings positive, nurturing, encouraging experiences and relationships into the lives of homeless individuals through twice-weekly art courses.

The world's first film festival of non-profit and cause-drive films was July 31st - August 2nd. Twenty finalists were selected from the over 140 submissions from three countries around the world.

Lights. Camera. Help. is a new non-profit devoted to encouraging non-profit and cause-driven organizations to use film and video to spread their messages.

Lights. Camera. Help. is dedicated to encouraging nonprofit and cause-driven organizations to use film and video to tell their stories. We do this through education and volunteer match programs as well as an annual charity film festival of these films.

As a part of this effort, Lights. Camera. Help has launched the premiere film festival exclusively for these organizations.
