Mercy Housing Colorado receives $10,000 grant from the Adolph Coors Foundation

Funding supports free, on-site resident programs in Colorado

08.25.2009 – DENVER- Mercy Housing Colorado has received a $10,000 grant from the Adolph Coors Foundation to support resident programs for low- to moderate-income adult and youth affordable housing residents. With the intention to provide more than a roof, Mercy Housing offers its residents free, on-site programs to develop healthy communities where residents can develop their full potential through education programs, economic development tools, health and well-being resources and community engagement opportunities.

“We are honored to receive this generous award from the Adolph Coors Foundation,” said Jennifer Erixon, Mercy Housing Colorado President. “We are thankful that the Adolph Coors Foundation shares in our mission to provide educational resident service programs to those who need it most, and this award will help expand Mercy Housing Colorado’s efforts to do just that.”

The demand for affordable housing has intensified and Mercy Housing is filling this critical need. According to the Center for Housing Policy, the number of working family renters paying more than half of their income for housing grew 103 percent from 1997 to 2005. Mercy Housing’s nationwide effort to provide more affordable housing opportunities to meet this need is bolstered by resident programs that help people to stabilize their lives and strengthen local communities.

“The Board of the Adolph Coors Foundation is pleased to be a part of the support for Mercy Housing’s educational programs,” said Sally Rippey, Adolph Coors Foundation Executive Director.
