09.21.2009 – Senior executives looking to gain an understanding of social media from a strategic level will want to attend Social Media for Executives, presented by Filtrbox, Oct. 14 in at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Unlike many social media seminars that simply help attendees set up a Facebook page or a Twitter account, Social Media for Executives presented by Filtrbox has brought together many of the nation’s leading social media experts each with a specific focus in a key management area — from communications to customer service to human resources — to provide a strategic overview of emerging best practices and strategic management of this important new area.
The event will be co-hosted by Dave Taylor, who manages three blogs, including the popular Ask Dave Taylor blog and is a national keynote speaker on a variety of topics, and Doyle Albee, president and social media practice director at Metzger Associates, a leading national communications, public relations and social media consultancy.
The day’s speaker line-up:
- Paula Berg, manager of Emerging Media for Southwest Airlines. Paula manages Southwest’s corporate blog, “Nuts About Southwest.” In 2007, “Nuts” was named Best Blog by PR News and has been recognized in major publications ranging from Wired Magazine to The Wall Street Journal.
- Jessica Berlin, Social Media manager for the Resident Shows Division of Cirque du Soleil. As Social Media manager she is responsible for planning social media marketing campaigns, developing and distributing content as well as coordinating blogger outreach. Prior to being in Social Media, Jessica was a publicist for all of the Resident Shows.
- Deirdre Breakenridge, a 20-year PR and marketing veteran who has helped senior executives in mid-size to large organizations communicate to their stakeholders. She is the author of four books, most recently Putting the Public Back in Public Relations, which she co-authored with Brian Solis.
- Ari Newman, president and founder of Filtrbox, a real-time social media monitoring service that helps companies listen to and engage in online conversations. In the year since launch, Filtrbox has grown to more than 10,000 users and hundreds of customers. Previously, Newman was founder and principal of Newman Venture Advisors, vice president of Product Management at CreekPath Systems and director of Operations at Volera.
- Linda O'Neill, general manager for Customer Operations for EMBARQ. For the last three years, Linda has been spearheading the Social Media outreach program for EMBARQ to engage in meaningful, online conversations with customers. She is also a frequent speaker and panelist on social media and its best practices.
- Liz Ryan is an expert on the new-millennium workplace, a former Fortune 500 human resources executive and the author of Happy About Online Networking: The Virtual-ly Simple Way to Build Professional Relationships. As an advisor to corporations on workplace and leadership issues, she has worked with Omnicom, Tyson Foods, General Electric, NBCi and a long list of global employers. She has also been featured in TIME, Fortune, The New York Times, USA Today and on CNN, CNBC and more. She is a commentator for NPR's "Morning Edition" and for BBC Radio, and a syndicated columnist on careers and the workplace.
The conference is being presented by Filtrbox (www.filtrbox.com). Taylor and Albee are very pleased to have their participation, as they both believe that listening is the first step in any social media activity.
“Our goal is to present a conference to truly help senior-level executives understand how social media has the potential to impact nearly every area in any company and to discuss the strategies and emerging best practices with industry leaders and their peers,” said Dave Taylor, one of the conference hosts. In order to facilitate interaction with both the speakers and the attendees, space is limited.
