Webvet.com Announces "Dog Days of Summer" Photo Contest

10.14.2009 – There's nothing more irresistible than cute photos of dogs. Whether they're romping in the yard, taking a dip in the ocean, or simply sacked out after a long day of fun in the sun, these pictures will warm your heart and bring a smile to your face.

To make sure all these special moments were not only captured, but shared with pet lovers around the world, today, webvet.com announced its first annual "Dog Days of Summer" photo contest. The contest runs through November 9, 2009.

Each pet owner can enter up to two photos per dog. Entrants and other dog lovers can then vote on the pooch they think deserves top honors by ranking each photo on a scale of one to five paws. The dog receiving the most paws at the end of the contest will be crowned "top dog" and three others will be named runners up based on their rankings. All winners will be prominently featured on webvet.com and its blog, The Daily Dish.

"We were inspired to create this contest by a Golden Retriever named Hank," said Hope Schultz, WebVet's president and editor-in-chief. "His owner sent me a couple photos of him enjoying the sun and surf this summer and I thought it would be a shame for other pet lovers to not to share in the fun."
