11.04.2009 – Shure Incorporated today announced that Shure Distribution UK Commercial Installation Sales Manager, Peter James, has been appointed as the Company’s newest Managing Director. In this role, he will lead the direction and strategy of Shure Distribution UK and have overall responsibility for all its divisions, management team, and staff. Following the sudden passing of Dennis Harburn in March, Shure Distribution UK was operating with an interim managing director.
“It has taken time and careful consideration to decide on the individual to lead Shure UK. I’m pleased that Peter has accepted this position, as he offers a wealth of enthusiasm, determination, and experience,” said Markus Winkler, Managing Director of Shure’s EMEA Business Unit. “His understanding of the industry, dynamic attitude, and long term aspirations will help lead Shure into a new era of growth and competitiveness in the UK.”
James brings more than 20 years of experience to this position, 12 of which have been with Shure Distribution UK. After arriving in the pro audio industry during the years of multi-track home recording, he has worked closely in all major vertical markets, including MI, DJ and phono, broadcast, live performance, and A/V. With a keen eye on customer service and a deep understanding of the importance of good customer relations, he is ideally suited to the role.
“Having worked with and been inspired by Dennis Harburn for many years, I’m very pleased to be able to carry on the legacy that he created and help to continue our long history of growth and profitability,” said James. “Taking on the challenge of growing Shure’s sales in the UK in the current environment is an opportunity that I relish. I want to ensure that we build on our reputation as the UK’s leading pro audio distribution company and continue to develop and adapt to our customers’ needs.”
