Universal Accounting Success Story: Judy Testori

11.04.2009 – Salt Lake City — Judy Testori, an accounting industry veteran of nearly 40 years, has spent most of this time working long hours for CPAs. Judy always envisioned herself owning her own accounting business, but lacked the conviction to take the plunge. In 1992 she started making extra money by starting a small, side tax business—Judy A. Testori, Accredited Tax Preparer—while still working full time for a CPA firm. By 1998, after relocating to Texas from New Jersey, Judy found the stress and lengthy commute between clients made it nearly impossible to continue her side tax business with only a part—time investment. She strived to invest all her professional energy into her budding tax practice, but lacked the marketing knowledge to feel confident enough that she could build enough clients to support the business.

In 2006 Judy found the support she was seeking in the form of a Universal Practice Builder™ Workshop. In the program, she learned about proven techniques to build her practice—Judy followed Universal Accounting’s program and spent more time growing her business and moved to a part-time work schedule at her current accounting job at a corporation.

“I was able to double my tax clients, thanks to the tools I acquired from the Universal Practice Builder™ Workshop,” said Judy. “At the time, it still wasn’t enough to convince me to leave my part-time job and dedicate all my time to the business.”

In July 2009, Judy received a follow-up call from a Universal Accounting Coach offering to help her get more out of her business.

“I was skeptical about working full-time for myself, afraid my business would not generate enough income to support myself and my family,” Judy recollects. “But after just the first week of my conversation with my Universal Accounting Coach, I had an entirely different attitude. Universal Accounting helped me over the hump and pushed me into the next phase of my business growth. I had finally become the full-time small business owner I had been wanting for years!”

Judy went through her list of current clients and presented an expanded services package. Since July, Judy has acquired 25 new monthly accounting clients to supplement her tax clients. She was able to leave her part-time accounting job and continue to build her practice to a sustainable level.

“I get referrals and phone calls everyday,” said Judy as she reflects on her recent explosive growth. “The best part about running my business is having control over when and how much I want to work. You have complete control over your own income. My ultimate goal is to have more personal freedom and be able to cut back my hours. I am well on my way thanks to the professional guidance I received from Universal Accounting.”
