11.25.2009 – WHAT:
A one dollar donation to a nonprofit organization created to advance the hospitality industry in Northeast Ohio could put an elaborate, one-of-a-kind wreath on your front door this holiday season. Twenty local organizations decorated 30” wreaths exemplifying the “Spirit of Cleveland.” From colorful cutouts of classic Cleveland personalities to a string of leg lamp lights, each wreath is an expression of the character of the community.
The fanciful wreaths are on display in the Cleveland Plus Visitors Center operated by Positively Cleveland now through December 10, 2009. Conveniently located on Public Square in what was once the Higbee department store, Winterfest-goers and downtown shoppers, residents and workers are encouraged to drop in to see the festive display and to vote for their favorite entry. Purchase a raffle ticket ($1 each or six for $5), drop it in the bag of the merry wreath you most admire and you could win that original ornamental piece to decorate your own home.
WHEN:
The Spirit of Cleveland Holiday Wreath Showcase takes place now through December 10, 2009 in the Cleveland Plus Visitors Center open Saturday, November 28, 3-8pm for WinterFest and Monday-Friday, November 30-December 11, 9am-5pm. (Wreath winners will be drawn and announced on Friday, December 11, 2009).
