04.21.2009 – Fort Wayne, IN - The ninth annual les Arts de la Table, a benefit for the Carriage House, was held at Parkview Field on April 20th. The event provided attendees the opportunity to vote on over twenty-five tabletop creations created by area designers. Wild Hare Décor presented a table with a “Eat Your Peas” theme displaying a collection of vegetable figurines, herbs, vegetables with a matching table setting. It was designed by the staff at Wild Hare Décor. The event is sponsored by the Pi chapter of Psi Iota Xi.
The Carriage House is a place that gives hope and help on a daily basis. Founded in 1997, the Carriage House assists adults with serious mental illness to live and work in the community, independently and with dignity. With an international reputation as a leader in the clubhouse model rehabilitation, the carriage house has helped hundreds of people return to work and school in the community.
The featured speaker at the luncheon is Andy Wilson, executive director of The Carriage House. He has been responsible for establishing the reputation this Clubhouse has nationally, as well as internationally. Wilson serves on the faculty for the International Center for Clubhouse Development and last year was named one of the top 40 business leaders in the Fort Wayne area. In the world of clubhouse development, he is a popular conference speaker as he shares the story of how the clubhouse program works to change the lives of the mentally ill. Joining Andy in his presentation will be John Hayes, who has been a member of the carriage house or 10 years and currently sits on the faculty at the international Center for Clubhouse development. John will share the story of his life before the Carriage House.
The Carriage House is a place where people challenged by mental illness develop confidence and take ownership of their lives and future. Its unique blend of members and staff comprise Indiana’s only certified Clubhouse. The Clubhouse network, born in New York City in 1947, is an international movement to provide hope, respect, dignity and work to its members.
