GoPro to Launch New Wearable HD Camera from the Skies at Outdoor Retailer
Outdoor Retailer has upped its already massive presence in Salt Lake with the second running of its "Open Air Demo," a daylong event just outside of Ogden, Utah where retailers can demo products in the environment for which they were designed. GoPro is going to throw a curveball to unsuspecting event-goers when it launches, quite literally, its new HD Helmet HERO camera, the first true 1080p / 960p / 720p HD wearable camera for sports.
Three wingsuit jumpers will launch from the sky during three planned stunts over the event area showcasing the unique beauty of human flight as well as the all-new HD Helmet HERO camera's capabilities to capture the action in clear, crisp and true HD video.
The Open Air Demo will be held on Monday July 20th (the day before OR's official start) at Pineview Reservoir and the jumps are scheduled for 9 am, 12 pm and 3 pm. The wingsuit jumpers will be wearing smoke grenades to add to the visual sensation of human flight.
GoPro sponsored base jumper and wingsuit pilot, Neil Amonson, is one of the three-wingsuit jumpers who will be taking to the Utah skies on Demo day. Coming straight to Utah from the Crossfit Games, Amonson will utilize his military background to challenge some of the worlds most fit, multisport athletes in this Aromas, CA competition.
Joining Amonson as his literal 'wingman,' will be extreme athlete and GoPro sponsored wingsuit jumper, Max Kuszai. Kuszai and Amonson will both be sporting GoPro logo suits and the new HD Helmet HERO camera designed for high-speed stunts such as this. With it's incredible image stability, industry first 1080p / 960p / and 720p video, the HD Helmet HERO is a professional-grade wearable HD camera, albeit at a consumer price.
"With so many professional film and TV producers, athletes, and hardcore action sports enthusiasts already using GoPro cameras in their own work and lifestyles, it was inevitable that GoPro would build industry leading technology into our latest camera, the HD Helmet HERO," says GoPro founder and CEO, Nicholas Woodman.
"GoPro is by a large margin the world's number one manufacturer of wearable cameras for sports. This, thankfully, gives GoPro access to new technologies that make this incredible new HD camera possible. It's exciting that for $299 consumers can buy the same HD camera that brand giants like Red Bull, BFGoodrich, Specialized, and many production companies use for their action sports filming...the HD HERO line from GoPro. We're fired up about how powerful this new camera has proven and we know our fans are going to lose their minds."
Outdoor Retailer participants can expect the usual excitement around GoPro's exhibit (booth # 38131), including their always-popular camera and beer giveaways. This year, however, will mark a first for the camera company as they get set to literally "launch" their new HD Helmet HERO camera product from the Salt Lake skies.
