Los Angeles, CA: On Saturday, December 10th, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA) will host the 3rd Annual General Hospital Fan Build Day as part of its entertainment partnership program, Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity (HFHFH). General Hospital is one of TV’s longest running and most beloved daytime dramas and for the third straight year, cast members are donating their time and talents to help build affordable and sustainable housing alongside their biggest fans. Fans may register for a limited number of build spots online with a minimum donation of $300. Once registered, participants will be encouraged to continue fundraising online - the fan that raises the most money will win a private tour of the General Hospital set with a member of the cast.
General Hospital Fan Build Days originated in 2009 when fan favorites, Brandon Barash and Lisa LoCicero came up with the idea as a way to reward loyal fans of the show while becoming more involved with Habitat for Humanity. The number of cast members who volunteer continues to grow each year, thereby helping the organization to raise even more funding and increase awareness of its mission to eliminate substandard housing. Habitat for Humanity builds affordable, sustainable homes in partnership with hardworking, low-income families and individuals who agree to pay back a zero-interest loan and volunteer up to 500 hours of “sweat equity” in the building of their home.

A limited number of build spots are available on a first come first served basis and this event will sell out. In addition to building with fans, several cast members have donated exclusive items for a silent auction to be held during the build day. The 3rd Annual General Hospital Fan Build Day will take place Saturday, December 10, 2011 at an undisclosed location in Greater Los Angeles. Registered volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
