Rethinking Idaho Landscapes

Presented by the Idaho Botanical Garden and the University of Idaho Extension, this horticultural symposium is a popular and important community forum. Regional Experts provide attendees with unique information, examples, and tools useful for gardening in Idaho. The program includes: horticulturist David Salman will speak on native shrubs and trees for creating waterwise Idaho landscapes; author Evelyn Hadden will speak on Beautiful No-Mow Yards for the West; author and garden designer Scott Calhoun will speak on succulent gardening; and a panel discussion on Creating a Garden Room.

Jennifer Games from Acupuncture West will discuss the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, the different energetics of common foods and herbs, and how to use these concepts to boost immunity, extend longevity, and regulate mood. Continuing Education: Holiday Wreath Workshop

9:00 am at the CWI Horticultural Office in the Old Pen Guardhouse
$35 non-Member; $30 Member. Pre-registration required.
Andrea Thompson from the College of Western Idaho will help participants create their own 18” holiday wreath using a variety of evergreens using ribbon and ornaments as embellishments. Wire frame, wire, evergreens, ribbon and ornaments provided. Please bring a pair of pruners, needle nose pliers, and a pair of gloves.
Winter Garden aGlow
November 22-25, 2012, including Thanksgiving Day
November 30, 2012 – January 6, 2013, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
6:00 – 9:00 pm
$8 General admission, $4 for Garden members and youth 5-12, children 4 and younger are free. Carpool Monday’s offers $20 per vehicle for up to six guests. Holiday restrictions apply, view calendar for full details.
More than 270,000 lights transform the Idaho Botanical Garden into a sparking wonderland. Guests enjoy the lights, model trains, appearances by Santa, and holiday shopping, and local choir performances. Winter Garden aGlow is a tradition for families and friends to treasure each year.

Idaho Botanical Garden is open daily from 9am-5pm, from 10 am – 6 pm on weekends.
General admission is $5 for non-members, $3 for seniors, and children 5-12 years old are $3. General admission is free to members.
