Burnsville candy maker Abdallah Candies celebrates 101 years

Fourth-generation, family owned, Burnsville-based business created its own recipe for success.

The Abdallah story began in 1909 with a Syrian immigrant and his Scandinavian bride.

The pair started making chocolates in their Minneapolis basement and selling them in their upstairs store to the locals. Today, Albert and Helen Abdallah's fourth generation is operating the business and has expanded to a 65,000-sq. ft. facility in Burnsville that houses the factory, shipping facility and retail store.

Abdallah Chocolates are now shipped to loyal customers and retailers across the United States.

The company is marking its 101st Anniversary by hosting a weeklong anniversary celebration for customers new and old. The event will occur July 19 through 24 at the Burnsville factory and retail store. The celebration will include a chance to win a factory tour, sidewalk sale, a chocolate raffle, daily prize drawings, candy samples, a food tent, a grand prize and more.
