Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein's bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic tale. A unique part of this production is that the lead actors alternate performances in the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature, each bringing their own vision and individual stamp.

Southern California Dance Project to create 4 New Ballets

4 Gifted Choreographers Chosen for National Choreographers Initiative at Irvine Barclay Theatre

Be there for the birth of, not one, but four new ballets created as part of the intensive 3-week process of the National Choreographers Initiative. Director Molly Lynch has invited four choreographers of note – Melissa Barak, Thang Dao, Darrell Grand Moultrie, and Wendy Seyb - as well as sixteen professional dancers from ballet companies across the country, to participate. The project culminates in a public performance, NCI Discovery ‘12 that showcases the excitement of new creation.
