06.17.2009 – Jackson Kayak, champions of easy to paddle, comfortable and durable boats brings their three-part refrain to the sit-on-top genre with the debut of the Riviera.
This simple kayak is already garnering rave reviews by the likes of Olympian Joe Jacobi and his guests at the Ocoee Adventure Center as well as Robert “Bear” Bass of Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort.
“We designed this boat to respond to the express needs of four of the largest canoe/kayak outfitters in the country and their early response to the finished product tells us we have a winner for the masses,” said Marty Cronin, Jackson Kayak’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Rec/Touring.
Early reports from the first models to hit the water indicate the Riviera achieved the magic trinity of boat design goals: all-day comfort, ease of use and durability. The outwardly simple-looking design belies premeditated concern for such details as a super-comfy seat, molded-in grab handles, cup holders and a hydrodynamic profile optimized to make the boat paddle straight and fast nearly effortlessly.
Measuring 11’4” long and 30 inches wide, and weighing in at 46 pounds, the Riviera is as agile and sporty for kids and dogs as for super-sized fun-seekers up to 300 pounds. Thinking ahead anticipating lots of hours and days of fun, the Riviera design team also provided a replaceable skid plate.
The Riviera comes in two builds, one for private paddlers and another for outfitters. The consumer edition includes a dry bagged hatch and rear bungee for holding down gear, coolers, or tackle boxes in the rear compartment. The outfitter model is built to be the Timex of sit-on-tops: it takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
The boat is available in rainbow colors, MSRP is $489; outfitters call for pricing and terms.
