Jay Peak Resort Sucked into Time Warp

Big Hair, Crimping Irons Invade Jay Peak for 80s Fundraiser

(Jay, VT)- Bust out the pink cummerbund and the Duran Duran albums; it’s time to party 80s style. Jay Peak Resort will host an 80s Dance Party this Saturday night, June 11th in the International Room. And the evening isn’t just to commemorate skinny ties and crimping irons. It’s to raise money for local Relay for Life teams.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event. The 2011 Northeast Kingdom VT relay is being held Saturday, June 25 and proceeds from Jay Peak’s 80s party will benefit teams Buddy's Angels, Angel Paws, and Angel Paws Too.

“Jay Peak has helped us host a couple of events this year—first Hope on the Slopes and now the 80’s Party—to raise money for Relay for Life,” said Allyson Bathalon, team captain for Buddy’s Angels. “We’re looking for fun, new ways to get people involved in what is an amazingly worthwhile cause – it seems everyone knows somebody affected by cancer these days. And we’re looking forward to events like these becoming annual fundraising occurrences.”

The party will be held from 8pm-12am and prizes will be awarded for Best 80s Costume, Best 80s Hair, Limbo, and an 80s Dance Off. There’s a $5 cover charge for singles; $8 for couples. Smoking anywhere near the International Room will be extremely discouraged due to the amount of hairspray expected.
