Caja Mediterráneo grows "Channel CAM" into a comprehensive communication program, considered a first in Europe

Backed by John Ryan and Telefónica, the innovative project broadcasts finance, business and public-service messaging to 500 branches

Madrid, June 22, 2009 - Caja Mediterráneo continues expanding Channel CAM, a digital media network that delivers a steady stream of locally relevant finance, business and public-service information to customers in its bank branches.

Begun in 2007, Channel CAM is first for European banking. The project began as an effort to efficiently manage the large volume and diversity of messages the bank communicates to its customers.

Channel CAM is now delivered to 500 branches. Since its inception, the channel has broadcast nearly 20,000 unique messages, 70% of which are public service oriented. This translates to 500 message permutations per month, in this area alone.

Local tailoring of messages is an important feature of Channel CAM. For starters, each branch is able to display a customized mix of programming. What's more, messaging is delivered in eight different languages: Castilian, Valencian, English, French, German, Norwegian, Swedish and Dutch.

Within each branch, Channel CAM actually has three separate streams of content that correspond to different areas of the bank:
• Public service information, such as local employment and real-estate listings.
• Commercial Channel, which consists primarily of bank promotions, brand messages and entertainment in the teller zone.
• Exterior Channel, which consists of promotional messaging that is shown on street-facing windows.

Channel CAM allows Caja Mediterráneo to communicate in a compelling way, while improving the customer experience in the bank. The channel has also contributed to a 14% increase in sales of products and services.

Channel CAM was recently recognized with a highly coveted POPAI Award in the digital signage category, the only one awarded to a project outside the United States.

Future innovations to Channel CAM include broadcasting content via Bluetooth, as well as expansion to all Caja Mediterráneo territories and branches.

Channel CAM is supported by the retail marketing agency John Ryan and the telecommunications company Telefónica.
