ARTIST TO WATCH, NICOLE BERKE, JOINS ROSTER AT KEYMEDIA PUBLIC RELATIONS

Young Musician’s Debut CD Beyond Her Years

BOSTON, MA- (December 17, 2009) Artist to Watch Nicole Berke partners with New York music experts KeyMedia Public Relations as she completes her senior year in college. The boutique PR/Marketing firm is making plans to promote Berke’s debut EP, Frondescence, and is pursuing opportunities for future recordings. Frondescence, self-released in 2008, contains five original songs with vocals and piano by Berke, a talented and accomplished singer, composer and pianist. The company is marketing Berke as an up and coming multi-format artist who appeals to a wide variety of listeners. With a focus on internet marketing and promotion, the goal is to create visibility for Berke from music buyers and the industry as Berke begins to demonstrate her potential for longevity in today’s music market.

With a distinct, soulful sound and lyrics that are poetic and personal, Berke connects with audiences in a powerfully honest and authentic way. Backed by Jesse Cafiero on upright bass and Rory O'Connor on drums, every song on Frondescence has its own original sound, from the opening soul groove of ‘Come On’ to the closing dynamic swells of the hymn-like title track 'Frondescence.’ Denise Marsa, President of KeyMedia Public Relations, is thrilled to be working with Berke and touts, “You might think this was Nicole’s second or third release, as it is unusual to hear such a young female songwriter so clearly defined this early on in her career. Her work is profound and full of meaning. The songs, combined with her voice and keyboard virtuosity, create a lasting impression.”

    More About Nicole Berke

Growing up, Nicole learned from her musician parents to combine her love of singing with her love of the piano. At the age of thirteen, she began writing her own songs, later taking part in a weekly blues jam at the Acton Jazz Café. In the fall of 2005 Nicole began attending UMass Amherst, where she met and teamed up with bassist Jesse Cafiero. Accompanied by Jesse's talent on acoustic bass, Nicole recorded and released a six-song demo, Rise in 2006, which put her out on the scene as "a musician to watch." In September of 2007, Nicole moved to Cambridge, MA to pursue music where she quickly developed a loyal and supportive fan base as she attended open mics regularly and played a number of shows. In September of 2009 Nicole moved to Portland, Oregon where she is completing her last year of school and exploring the music scene on the West Coast.
