New York, New York (Monday, September 20, 2010) –The One and Nines, out of Jersey City NJ, will be releasing JUST YOUR FOOL as a 7” 45RPM vinyl record on September 28th on Brooklyn-based Cotter Records. The track, featuring lead vocals from sassy Vera Sousa, is from their self-titled and produced The One and Nines EP. To celebrate the vinyl record release, The One and Nines will be performing at Sullivan Hall in NYC, with special guest performer Rachel Millman. Millman is a rising Indie artist whose debut single “Throwin’ Rocks at The Moon” is receiving radio air play and garnering national media attention. Starting this week, the highly acclaimed radio show Women of Substance, will be featuring the track in heavy rotation for three months.
Wax Poetics contributor Jon Kirby says of the band’s performances: “The music of The One and Nines is straight, no chaser rock & roll, served well above room temperature. The One & Nines are a rhythm & blues band based out of Jersey City, NJ. The band’s style and influences come from a wide range of American music, but what is most apparent is the sound of the great rock & roll and soul music of the 50’s & 60’s. About Rachel Millman:
A talented, engaging and charismatic up-and-coming indie pop artist, Rachel Millman is being touted as a fresh and exciting new interpreter of songs, a songwriter's muse, and an artist on the rise! A native of New Jersey, Millman grew up singing in chorus and performing in school musicals as far back as she can remember. With a college degree in communications from Penn State under her belt, after graduation in 2008 Millman decided to turn her energy and focus back on her career as singer. With various opportunities singing on regional TV and radio commercials, and with the help of several music industry veterans, she launched her own label Gila Enterprises, LLC and teamed up with KeyMedia Group to release her critically acclaimed debut EP “IF I BELIEVE”.
