Kodak Challenge Visits Hole #17 at the Valero Texas Open

Co-leaders Lunde & Lyle Head Strong Kodak Field at TPC San Antonio

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 11, 2011 -- For the second consecutive year, the Kodak Challenge, a first-of-its-kind competition for PGA TOUR players and fans, visits the 17th hole at TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, TX during the Valero Texas Open on April 14-17. The Valero Texas Open is the 11th of 30 tournaments to participate in the $1 million Kodak Challenge competition this season.

The Kodak Challenge was created to celebrate the beautiful holes and memorable moments on the PGA TOUR. Golfers must play at least 18 of 30 Kodak Challenge holes throughout the season to qualify. The golfer with the best Kodak Challenge score relative to par at the end of the season will win the Kodak Challenge trophy and $1 million.

Jarrod Lyle and Bill Lunde are currently tied for the Kodak Challenge lead at 7-under-par. The pair head a strong Kodak field at TPC San Antonio, which includes a total of seven players within two-shots of the lead, including Charley Hoffman at 6-under-par. 2009 Kodak Challenge winner, Kevin Streelman is also playing in the Valero Texas Open this week.

Troy Merritt won the 2010 Kdak Challenge in a sudden-death playoff on No. 17 at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic. Merritt defeated Rickie Fowler and Aaron Baddeley in a one-hole playoff at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magnolia Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL, to capture the Kodak Challenge trophy and the winner-take-all $1 million prize.

Kodak Challenge Hole No. 17 at the Valero Texas Open is a “risk reward” Par 4

The 347-yard hole #17 of TPC San Antonio offers aggressive players an opportunity to drive the green. Players are greeted with a wide fairway, but must be wary of a large bunker along the right side. The green is protected on the left side with a large, deep bunker. 2010 Valero Texas Open winner, Adam Scott posted one of three eagles on the Kodak Challenge hole last year, and was one of only two pros to drive the green last year.

2011 Kodak Challenge Schedule Finalized

Kodak and the PGA TOUR announced on March 23rd that the 14th hole at Shaughnessy G&CC (RBC Canadian Open), the 18th at Plainfield CC (The Barclays) and the 17th hole at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass (THE PLAYERS Championship) have been added to the 2011 Kodak Challenge calendar, finalizing the 30-hole schedule of the $1 million Kodak Challenge.
The RBC Canadian Open (July 21-24 in Vancouver, BC, Canada) and The Barclays (August 25-28 in Edison, NJ) have hosted Kodak Challenge holes previously, but both tournaments have moved to a new course in 2011. This year marks the first time the Kodak Challenge will visit THE PLAYERS (May 12-15 in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL).

Kodak's marketing partnership with the TOUR includes the designation as Official Imaging Provider of the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour, including cameras, printers and scanners.
