LUNDE LEADS KODAK CHALLENGE TO FRYS.COM OPEN

Exciting Par 4 No. 17 Brings Opportunity for Kodak Contenders

Bill Lunde brings a three-shot lead in the $1 million Kodak Challenge to the par 4 No. 17 at CordeValle Golf Club during the Frys.com Open in San Martin, CA on October 6-9. The Frys.com Open is the 28th of 30 tournaments to participate in the 2011 Kodak Challenge competition.

Lunde posted an eagle last week at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open to increase his score to 19-under-par with just three holes to play in the $1 million Kodak Challenge. In addition to Lunde, this week’s field at The Frys.com Open includes 10 PGA TOUR pros within three strokes of the lead. Cameron Tringale (-16) is the top contender chasing Lunde this week.

A San Diego, CA-native, Lunde has held at least a share of the Kodak Challenge lead for 19 consecutive holes, since posting a birdie on the final hole of the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 25.

Late Round Tee Positions on No. 17 Deliver ‘Kodak Moments’

In 2010, the 358-yard No. 17 at CordeValle Golf Club was one of the most exciting holes of the Kodak season. Playing from shorter front tees Saturday and Sunday, the pros delivered a host of memorable shots, none bigger than Rocco Mediate’s final round eagle. A total of nine eagles were recorded on the par 4 during the final two rounds, the most exciting of which was Mediate’s 116-yard hole-out for eagle en route to his victory at The Frys.com Open.

The Kodak Challenge celebrates beautiful holes and memorable moments on the PGA TOUR and challenges players to perform their best on 30 designated Kodak Challenge holes. They must play at least 18 of the 30 designated Kodak Challenge holes. The player with the lowest cumulative score on his best 18 Kodak Challenge holes will win $1 million.

Hole No. 17 at the The Frys.com Open is just one of three holes left in the chase for the Kodak Challenge $1 million winner-take-all prize. The Kodak Challenge concludes on hole No. 17 at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic at Disney's Magnolia Course on October 20-23.
