LATISM Awards are the highest honor to Latinos taking strides in social media, from marketing and entrepreneurship to technology, non-profit and civic engagement.
Washington, DC – September 18, 2012 –Latinos in Social Media (LATISM) just announced today that is seeking nominations for the LATISM 2012 Awards, to be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 7 pm CST during the Toyota Awards Ceremony at the LATISM 2012 Conference. The LATISM ’12 Conference will be held from October 25th to 27th at the Houston Hyatt Regency, 1200 Louisiana Street, Houston, Texas, USA 77002.
The LATISM Awards are given annually to exceptional leaders, bloggers, social media influencers and organizations in the areas of in Education, Technology, Health, Economic Development, Public Service and Civic Engagement, who have made substantial contributions to the state of the US Latino Community through blogging, empowerment activities and online, mobile and new media outreach.
First created in 2009, and presented live each year during LATISM’s annual conference, the LATISM awards have quickly become the leading means of identifying excellence in the Latino social media arena. Awards are given based on the public’s online votes.

Voting Process:
• Submissions will be accepted online and are open to the public
• This year’s finalists will be selected by the LATISM members who vote at http://conference.latism.org/latism-awards-2/nominations12/ during the nomination period, September 18th to September 30th, 2012
• At the close of the nomination period, LATISM will select the top 5 finalists in each category. The public will be presented with the “Finalists” and get to vote for their favorites until October 20th, 2012
• Winners from the finalist round will be announced during the LATISM Awards Gala, to be held during the LATISM Annual Conference, in a ceremony sponsored by Toyota Motors USA
