First Cause-Driven Film Festival to Kick Off Call for Entries

Nonprofits and filmmaking community invited to attend kick-off celebration

AUSTIN, TX – Lights. Camera. Help., the premier film festival exclusively for nonprofits and cause advocates, will commemorate the start of the 2011 Call for Entries with the Reel-to-Reality party on March 4 at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome to celebrate with the nonprofit.

Reel-to-Reality is the kick-off party for the official film submission period for the Lights. Camera. Help. Festival. The party will take place at Union Park, 612 West 6th Street, Austin, Texas, and will feature special sneak previews of films being submitted for this year’s festival.

“We really want to have an event that not only gathers the cause-driven and film community together but also draws in a whole other audience that might be new to the films-for-a-cause genre,” said Lights. Camera. Help. Co-founder, Aaron Bramley. “That's why it's open to the public and right in the middle of downtown Austin.”

The nation’s first cause-driven film festival brings together filmmakers and nonprofits to help spread awareness and promote their causes. Last year, the festival brought in over 235 submissions of documentaries, PSAs and short films from all over the world. In its third year, Lights. Camera. Help. hopes to bring in even more entries.

Starting on March 4, submissions will be open until May 31 and the submission form can be downloaded at the Lights. Camera. Help. website. The festival will be held July 28-30 in Austin, Texas.

In June, Lights. Camera. Help. will judge the submissions based on the cinematic quality and the ability to tell the nonprofit’s story, among other factors. The organizations behind the winning films are then awarded the proceeds from the festival's ticket sales.
