Maryland Democratic Party Launches New Web Ad

Exposes Bob Ehrlich's Ties to Special Interests

The Maryland Democratic Party released a new ad reminding Marylanders of Bob Ehrlich’s lifelong battle on behalf of the special interests. Whether as Governor or “making it rain” for his new law firm, Ehrlich has consistently sided with special interest groups for political gain or personal profit.

As Ehrlich enters week 165 of his flirtation with running for Governor, the Maryland Democratic Party wants to remind voters that Ehrlich was, is and always will be the best friend a special interest group can have.

As Governor, Ehrlich sided with big corporations by opposing the minimum wage. He even sided with insurance companies and against the families of Baltimore County after Hurricane Isabel. This ad points out Bob Ehrlich’s ongoing status as the go-to-guy in Maryland for special interests.

Some highlights of Bob Ehrlich’s special interest ties pointed out in the ad include –

• His new government affairs job with Womble Carlyle, whose client list includes big tobacco, oil companies, slots… even Hugo Chavez.

• Illegally using the public airwaves to promote clients of his firm.

• Siding with big special interest by opposing minimum wage increases three times.

Ehrlich, who loves to talk on his weekly radio show, has remained amazingly silent when it comes to exactly what he does for his North Carolina-based law firm. With their client list, we’re not surprised.

Maryland Democratic Party Executive Director Travis Tazelaar had this to say about the party’s ad “Bob Ehrlich’s record defending big tobacco and oil companies makes him a must hire for every major special interest. Not the people of Maryland.”

The new online ad can also be viewed on the Maryland Democratic Party’s YouTube channel.
