MARYLAND DEMOCRATIC PARTY RELEASES NEW AD ON BOB EHRLICH’S RECKLESS SPENDING RECORD

The Maryland Democratic Party today released a new ad through their website reminding Marylanders of Bob Ehrlich’s reckless and fiscally-irresponsible record on government spending. Ehrlich has consistently run away from his big-spending record, including just last month when he tried to mislead a rally of the Maryland Tea Party movement into believing that he had not compiled the biggest spending record in Maryland history.

Ehrlich’s extended flirtation with the idea of running for Governor seems to be coming to a head, after recently driving fellow Republican Larry Hogan out of the race.

During this global economic crisis, where state and local budgets have required large cuts to bring them in balance, this ad points out the absurdity of Bob Ehrlich re-assuming the reins of state government. The highlights of Bob Ehrlich’s fiscal policy pointed out in the ad include –

• Proposing the largest ever increase in state spending
• Increasing spending by $3 Billion - more than any Governor in 25 years
• Leaving Maryland with a $1.5 Billion deficit at the end of his one term

Maryland Democratic Party Executive Director Travis Tazelaar had this to say about the party’s ad “Putting Bob Ehrlich back in charge of Maryland’s budget would be like putting Bernie Madoff in charge of the New York Stock Exchange… absurd.”

The new online ad can be viewed on the Maryland Democratic Party’s YouTube channel.
