MARYLAND DEMOCRATIC PARTY RELEASES NEW VIDEO ON BOB EHRLICH’S OIL RECORD

What Bob Ehrlich doesn’t want you to know about his relationship with Big Oil

The Maryland Democratic Party today released a new web video exposing Bob Ehrlich’s record representing oil companies, voting for offshore drilling and cheering on oil drilling.

As the oil spill in the Gulf Coast continues to grow, Bob Ehrlich has yet to come clean with voters about his dirty record on oil drilling. This video points out the absurdity of Bob Ehrlich re-assuming the reins of state government. The highlights of Bob Ehrlich’s oil record pointed out in the video include :

• Representing an oil company sued by the state for spilling 80,000 gallons of oil in south Baltimore.
• Working at firm that represents CITGO, Exxon/Mobil and Shell Oil
• Voting to open parts of the Gulf of Mexico to drilling exploration
• Voting to reduce corporate liability for hazardous waste cleanup
• Repeating his former Lt. Governor’s chant, “Drill, Baby, Drill”

Most recently, Ehrlich spokesman Andy Barth was quoted denying that Ehrlich had ever said ‘Drill, Baby, Drill.’ According to The Baltimore Sun, “About ‘Drill, Baby, Drill,’ Barth said: "Governor Ehrlich didn't say that and doesn't really have anything to say about it." In September 2008, however, Ehrlich said on his radio show: “Don’t forget Michael Steele, lieutenant governor: Drill, Baby, Drill…Drill, Baby, Drill!”

“It’s clear that Bob Ehrlich can’t be trusted when talking about his record on any issue,” said Maryland Democratic Party Executive Director Travis Tazelaar. “Bob Ehrlich needs to come clean with Maryland Voters about his record on oil drilling.”

The new video can be viewed online on the Maryland Democratic Party’s YouTube channel.
