Two Interactive Media Awards for McLean Hospital's Campaign Website

MedTouch Client McLean Hospital, A Member of Partners Healthcare, Proves to be the Best of the Best in the 2010 Interactive Media Awards, Winning Two Outstanding Achievement Awards

MedTouch is proud to announce that client McLean Hospital’s campaign website, Toronto.McLean.Harvard.edu, which was created for the Klarman Eating Disorders Center in Belmont, Massachusetts has been awarded two Interactive Media Awards. The brand new online presence for McLean was built with an interactive call to action—an online eating disorder evaluation—to assist with patient screening. To expand awareness of the center’s services, the site was launched simultaneously with an integrated search and social media marketing campaign targeting a young female demographic in the Greater Toronto area. The residential eating disorders treatment program received Outstanding Achievement awards in both the Health and Nutrition, and Teens categories, with overall scores of 475 and 477 respectively.

The Outstanding Achievement award is the second highest honor bestowed by IMA and an extremely challenging award to win. The Klarman Eating Disorders Center Canadian campaign website has excelled in all areas of the Interactive Media Council’s judging criteria and represents a very high standard of planning, execution and overall professionalism.

This award further supports the position that MedTouch is occupying, as a leader in interactive marketing for healthcare. “Fresh design and interactivity are important to us and it is an honor to receive such an award for the McLean site, especially in the Teen category,” said Paul Griffiths, MedTouch CEO and Founding Partner. “We hope this award raises the profile of the Klarman Eating Disorders Center and helps teens and families understand more about treatment options for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and other related disorders.”

With this microsite, McLean became one of the first teaching hospitals to use social media as a means of building awareness for eating disorder treatment options. McLean’s unique approach was to leverage a campaign site focused entirely on this type of care. "Social media creates an entirely new paradigm for McLean in terms of how we communicate with adolescent audiences about mental health and wellness. We are pleased to be pioneers in the use of new media to engage teens in finding help for eating disorders," said Philip G. Levendusky, PhD, Senior Vice President for Marketing and Business Development at McLean.

Since launch, the Klarman Center campaign has seen significant results, including millions of advertising impressions displayed on Facebook and new treatment inquiries within the first two months.
