DETAILS:
The state-of-the-art Esophageal Disease Center provides diagnoses and treatments that are uniquely tailored to each patient. Patients with conditions that affect the upper GI tract, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), often face a long and difficult road before receiving a diagnosis. Often, they must undergo tests at different facilities, wait a long time to find out the results, wait for a diagnosis and then begin treatment. Not anymore. The new Esophageal Disease Center, housed within the Endoscopy Center at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, streamlines this process. “Not only is this more convenient for patients, it ensures continuity of care,” says Carol Burnett, R.N., clinical manager of the Endoscopy Center. The red carpet will be rolled out and wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
