Metolius First to Market with 3D CAD Modeling Software for use in Training Products with the Simulator 3D™

BEND, ORE. – Metolius, a brand synonymous with quality and innovation in rock climbing gear and hardware, is the global leader in training products for rock climbing. In 2010, Metolius will raise the bar even higher in the training products category thanks to an important investment: 3D CAD modeling software.

Typically, training product masters are hand carved. With this new design approach, Metolius is the only company using modeling software to design training boards and other training related products. Metolius uses CAD software to design and create the drawings and then links these programs with CNC cutting machines to make perfect board masters, which are then molded. Metolius has raised the bar in terms of precision and accuracy in the manufacture of its training products.

"By employing state of the art modeling software and cutting our board masters on CNC machines, we are able to achieve near perfect symmetry from one side of the board to the other. This offers something hand shaped boards will never achieve,” said Brooke Sandahl, vice president of Metolius.
