Throughout the month, the MHS Web site will highlight a variety of issues impacting children of the military. Specific topics will include Sesame Workshop’s "Talk. Listen. Connect" DVD series that helps children cope with a parent’s military deployment; the RAND Corporation survey commissioned by the National Military Family Association to study the effects of a parents’ deployment on children; and the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress’ "Courage to Care, Courage to Talk" campaign, a hospital-based program that facilitates communication about the impact of a parent’s war injuries on military children by connecting families to resources within the hospital that can answer questions.
The MHS is dedicated to providing programs and services that support military children and families, paying special attention to the impact of deployments on children.
This April, think “small hands and big hearts.” Visit www.health.mil/militarychild for more information.
