Trained to Heal, Inspired to Speak

April/May Issue of MHS Profiles

This month’s issue of MHS Profiles highlights a combat medic and two combat nurses whose steadfast strength and determination have aided them on the battlefield, in their recovery at home and, today, as they advocate for others experiencing psychological stress. Read it now at www.health.mil/profiles.

Treating wounded service members, fallen comrades, and Iraqi civilians, these individuals were exposed to the horrors of war day after day, hour after hour. Each found the strength to recognize they needed help, and each had the courage to seek it out. With the help of the Real Warriors campaign, these women reveal their own personal stories to inspire others to seek help. This issue tells the story of their unique experiences and ongoing efforts at combating the stigma associated with psychological stress.

MHS Profiles combines social and traditional media to revolutionize the way the MHS communicates with its staff and the general public. The series of personalized articles focuses on the people who work on innovative and progressive programs designed to meet the needs of our service members, veterans and their families. New issues appear monthly; you can subscribe to future issues from www.health.mil/profiles.
