(San Diego, CA) – Stoneridge Country Club is going to look a lot like a Chargers family reunion on Monday when a virtual whose-who of San Diego football legends tee-off for the 2011 National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Cadillac Golf Classic.  The event, hosted by the National Kidney Foundation of San Diego, is part of the largest amateur charity golf event in the world raising $80 million for the NKF. Top finishing teams are invited to compete in the National Finals at Pebble Beach, California.

Sports legends Hank Bauer, Chuck Muncie, Lou Bush, Doug Wilkerson, Ed White, Willie Buchanon, Leslie O’Neal and Padres Hall of Famer and Cy Young winner Randy Jones are all donating their time, and demonstrating their handicaps, with local San Diegans who have donated to the Foundation to be in their foursomes.

Chair of the event, Linda Gandy, who donated her own kidney to her son years ago, is ecstatic.  "I'm so pleased with the turnout.  We know these guys get dozens of appearance requests every week.  For all them to rally for this event is truly heartwarming.  I suspect they're all eager to win that beautiful caddie!"

All golfers will have an opportunity to win a new Cadillac for a hole in one, along with other great prizes throughout the day with longest drive, closest to the pin, &   putting contest.  Everyone attending the dinner party after golf will have a chance to win fantastic raffle prizes and bid on auction items, that will include a 6 night 7 day trip to Costa Rica (on the beach w/cook, Drive a Nascar, Ride and Drive a Hydro Plane Boat, Titleist Clubs w/fitting, Golf Foursomes @ Pelican Hill.  Other prizes provided by PING, Golf Digest/Golf World, the Greg Norman Collection and Tiffany & Co.

Local sponsors North County Cadillac Escondido, Tilted Kilt, Chick-a-Fil, Payne Mason Cigars, A-List Productions, mySDrealty, Santorini Island Grill, Pita & Buns, Fortune Builders, Dave & Busters, Coffee Bean, Champagne Bakery, Einstein Bagels, Taste of Thirst  & UV Vodka have also helped to underwrite the event.

Amateur golfers, male and female, can participate as part of four-person teams. Eligible teams consist of players whose combined USGA Handicap Indexes total 42.0 or more and only one golfer on each team may have a Handicap Index of 8.0 or less. Not all golfers need to qualify to play in tournament only if they want a chance to go to Pebble Beach for the Championship Tournament (3 day event).
