“Riedel wine glasses are the finest instruments in the world for enhancing the wine drinker’s experience,” said Chuck Dressel, President of Mount Pleasant. “We are honored to have Mr. Riedel host a wine tasting with us and to have him as a guest at our 150th Anniversary Dinner.”
Georg Riedel is a 10th-generation glassmaker from Austria and owner of Riedel, maker of premium wine glasses. The first to truly understand how the shape of a glass dramatically affects a wine’s bouquet and flavor, Riedel has transformed the way wine drinkers view their glassware. Riedel will guide guests through a series of tastings in several different glasses to demonstrate how stemware can affect wine. As a special treat, guests will be among the first to use Riedel’s newly designed Sommelier Hermitage glass, perfect for sipping Missouri’s Norton.
Mount Pleasant’s 150th Anniversary Dinner will be a magnificent evening featuring live music, good food and spectacular wines. Guests will feast on a delicious multi-course meal, including Asian pork lettuce wraps, a double entrée of roast sirloin of beef with lemongrass sauce and mango chicken wrapped in banana leaf, and chocolate ganache cheesecake with mandarian orange glaze. Wine pairings will accompany each course.
Tickets for the Riedel wine tasting are $75 per person. The price includes five Riedel wine glasses, a $200 retail value. Tickets for Mount Pleasant’s 150th Anniversary Dinner are $89.99 per person. Call 1-800-467-WINE to make reservations.
Mount Pleasant has been celebrating its anniversary all year long, with special deals and new offerings. The winery has waived its $5 admission fee for band days. Also, Mount Pleasant has featured a different wine of the month all year long available for a discounted price at either winery location or on the website.
PRAISE FOR RIEDEL GLASS:
“The Riedel family has never stamped its name on a single bottle of wine. But over the past 50 years, this Austrian clan of master glassmakers has done more to enhance the oenophile’s pleasure than almost any winemaking dynasty.” - Time Magazine
“The finest glasses for both technical and hedonistic purposes are those made by Riedel. The effect of these glasses on fine wine is profound. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference they make.” - Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate
